Ukraine is raising new concerns over delays in American military assistance.

President Zelenskyy said on October 26 that Kyiv had been waiting nearly a month for U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to approve additional missiles for Patriot and NASAMS air defense systems.

The supplies are especially important as Russia continues targeting Ukraine's civilian and energy infrastructure.

Some of the weapons are being purchased by European allies through a NATO-backed assistance program.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously acknowledged that a shipment may have been delayed but said the issue was not politically motivated.

The dispute comes amid broader tensions between Washington and Kyiv over military assistance and U.S. dealings with Russia.

For Ukraine, the immediate concern is practical: air defense systems need a reliable supply of interceptor missiles to remain effective.
