Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to meet Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday, October 27, amid renewed international efforts to address the Middle East conflict.

Pezeshkian will travel to Moscow for a summit of gas-exporting countries, according to Iranian officials.

Iran's ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, said the leaders are expected to discuss economic cooperation and geopolitical developments.

The announcement follows Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's visit to Tehran earlier this month, where officials from both countries discussed expanding their strategic partnership.

Russia and Iran have strengthened economic and security ties in recent years, particularly since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Earlier in October, Putin expressed Russia's willingness to contribute to diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict between Iran and the United States.

The meeting comes as negotiations between Washington and Tehran remain stalled over the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. naval blockade and Iran's nuclear program.

Energy cooperation is also expected to feature in discussions, given the countries' positions as major oil and gas producers.

No new peace agreement has been announced, and there is no confirmation that Moscow has secured a formal mediation role.

Investors will be watching whether the meeting produces concrete diplomatic proposals or energy-related announcements that could affect global supply expectations.
