Speaking to reporters following his October 27 campaign appearances, Trump claimed that Tehran was interested in reaching an agreement but was delaying negotiations.
He suggested Iran might be waiting for the U.S. elections before making further concessions.
At a rally in Lubbock, Texas, Trump also said the conflict could end quickly, provided Iran made a clear commitment never to develop nuclear weapons.
His remarks followed Sunday's decision not to launch an attack against Iran that day.

Meanwhile, tensions across the Gulf continue to threaten energy supplies, with Brent crude rising above $115 on Wednesday following a reported attack claim involving a Saudi refinery.
